Perceptual Dialect Maps of Korea

Preliminary data from a pilot survey by Daniel Long and Young-Cheol Yim

The maps below are composite maps of the areas perceived as being (respectively)
"Seoul Dialect", "Ch'ungch'ong Dialect", "Cholla Dialect", and "Kyongsang Dialect"

The maps were produced using PDQ (Perceptual Dialect Quantifier for Windows 95), designed by Daniel Long and programmed by Isao Onishi. The maps were converted to "gif" files using the shareware program "Hysnap", designed by Greg Kochaniak. You may contact Daniel Long by e-mail at dlong@joho.osaka-shoin.ac.jp or at dlong@x.age.or.jp.
